50 Watt Polish book cover design contest
My submission for a contest on a great art blog called 50 Watt.
The challenge was to interpret your favorite book in the style typical of book covers accomplished by great graphic designers somewhere around 1950 to early 1980's Poland.
The English title of what I chose is "The Sanatorium Underneath the Hourglass" by the Polish writer Bruno Schulz...a great surrealist classic! (He was an accomplished illustrator as well - Google his drawings & see!)
Not-so-quick side note: I was first introduced to Schulz work by the Quay Brothers' "Street of Crocodiles" which is an amazing stop-motion animation short that highly influenced my young mind back in the late 80's/early 90's. The Quays based their piece on Schulz's original work of the same title. I've included a link of the short below for reference.
